I love throwing parties for our close friends. It’s so fun to plan all the little details that make the event so special. Erika and I started planning Dana’s shower back in August. Dana is originally from the midwest and fall in the midwest is as we all know pretty perfect. Dana loves fall so we wanted to bring that into the theme of the shower but in a non-Thanksgiving sort of way.
The invitations are always my favorite part of party planning. For Dana’s shower I hand lettered the entire design. I love how these ones turned out. It’s probably one of my favorite things I’ve ever done.
We decorated with pink, peach and copper colors and filled the tables with potted succulents.
Each guest got to take home a jar of homemade spiced peach jam. We also used it on the chicken as peach bruschetta. It was our first jam making/canning experience and I have to say it turned out pretty yummy.
The food was really fun to plan. We picked things that reminded us of fall and also choose foods we knew were Dana’s favorite; some of which included caramel apples, berry and pumpkin cheesecake, apple hand pies, baby veggies, and baked potato soup. Then of course we served chai tea because that’s the most perfect fall drink.
Pixel and Wall-E got the baby stuffed versions of themselves. Now she won’t be scared when they meet for the first time.
I’m not the biggest fan of baby shower games. Ok, I’ll be honest, I really don’t like them at all. So instead of games we set up a baby headband making station and also put out envelopes filled with notes cards guest could write encouraging notes on for mom and dad. We did one for each month for the baby’s first year.
We had so much fun throwing this baby shower for Dana. We probably went overboard on some things but we love her and couldn’t help ourselves. I can’t wait to meet the cutie patootie soon. She is definitely not going to be deprived of love from our group of friends. We love her so much already.
