The Face of Type “F”

It’s December first! You know what that means: snow days! Snowmen! Snow angels! Snow banks! And best of all, Christmas! Our celebration of Christmas went into full swing the day after Thanksgiving, but there’s just something about it being December that really jumpstarts the festivities. We’re almost ready to send out our own Christmas cards, and we’re throwing our second annual Bartlett Christmas party next Saturday that we can’t wait to tell you all about.
To put your desktop wallpaper in the Christmas mood, here is a festive wallpaper for you to display all month long. This moth’s font is Futura, and is probably one of our favorite sans serif fonts. We use it in a lot of our own designs.
Font Fun Fact: Wes Anderson uses Futura in all of his films.

Woodn’t This Be Nice?

Jamie Bartlett Blog Post Home, Inspiration, Wood 1063 Views

There’s something about wood that I just can’t get enough of. Dark wood, rough wood, even Faux wood grain that is so popular these days, I love it all. This is some of the wood I’m currently obsessing over. I think the pencil holder is a must have for my new desk.

Music Sure to Spread Christmas Cheer

Jamie Bartlett Blog Post Christmas, Holiday, Music 1195 Views

I can finally listen to Christmas music without being judged! As soon as we woke up on Friday we turned on some Christmas music and started some online Black Friday shopping and we haven’t stopped listening all weekend. Our tree is set up, lights are hung and some presents are already under the tree. Christmas is in full swing in our apartment!

I was trying to decide which one of these albums was my favorite but they are all so wonderful in their own way. So if you haven’t heard these, you might as well get them all. After all…the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!

Word to the Wise: William Morris

Jamie Bartlett Blog Post England, Photography, Quote, Word to the Wise 1573 Views

Just a friendly reminder that as we go into this weekend filled with Black Friday deals let’s remember the wise words of William Morris. I think its a good rule of thumb anyway.
And if you don’t know who William Morris is, he is the founder of the English Arts and Crafts movement. His work is really beautiful. The above picture is actually his house, Kelmscott Manor, in Lechlade, England that I took while Jake and I were visiting back in 2008.

Some of our neighbors have already set up their Christmas tree. Ever since the start of this month we’ve been itching to set up ours, but resisted the urge. We reserve the day after Thanksgiving for our tree decorating. Last year was our first Christmas together, so we had a lot of fun buying a tree and all the trimming that we will use for many more Christmas’s together. Here are some of my favorite ornaments from this year. I really want a dalmatian version off that little dog ornament.
Enjoy your tree decorating and don’t forget to turn on some Christmas music and grab a mug of coco too!

Pie Time!

Jamie Bartlett Blog Post Baking, Food, Holiday, Inspiration 1400 Views

Thanksgiving is just a few days away! One of my favorite things to eat on Thanksgiving is Pumpkin Pie. My family makes the same delicious recipe every year. This year I’m making two. In years past my mom always made the crust while my dad and I mixed up the filling. I’m a little nervous to bake them all by myself and I can guarantee the crust isn’t going to be the picture perfect kind like my mom’s always is.

I did find these beautiful pie crust designs that I just love. If I feel adventurous when I make my pies maybe I’ll try one of these. Happy pie eating!
