Have you seen the new Muppet movie? Jake and I saw it over Thanksgiving weekend. It was fabulous and really fun to watch. I’m loving this Muppet Alphabet too by Mike Boon! They even made it into a shirt on Threadless.
Hot Chocolate Party & Printables
Yesterday I told you a little bit about our Christmas party that we had over the weekend. This year we decided to have a hot chocolate themed party. I have lots of pictures to share with you and even free printables you can download if you have the urge to throw a seriously sweet party. Cold weather is here to stay, what better an excuse to grab a few friends and sip on something sweet that is sure to warm you up from your toes to your nose!
For our party we sent out these invites in the mail a few weeks ahead of time so our friends could be sure to mark the date on their calendars. Jake and I purchased some plain white mugs from Home Goods for really cheap (just over one dollar per mug) and decorated each one differently with a Pebeo Porcelain Pen. When our guests arrived they picked the mug design they liked best, used it for their cocoa throughout the night and then took it home as our gift to them. They were a big hit with everyone, plus they were really fun and easy to make!
We stocked the hot chocolate bar with candy canes, marshmallows, chocolate filled wafers, and vanilla syrup. We also served frosted sugar cookies and pretzels to add a touch of salt to all the sweet. We also sent our guests home with an additional hot chocolate on a stick, wrapped and taged, ready for the next time they’re in need of something warm to drink.
I’ve decided I really like throwing parties. Not only do we get to spend time with our friends, but it gives me an excuse to design some cute stuff that I can share with my friends and all of you. You can download and print any of the artwork I designed for our party by clicking on the links below.

An Illustrated Holiday Weekend
Welcome back from the weekend everyone! We hope yours treated you well; Jake and I sure enjoyed ours. A few weeks back, Katherine from Gathered Heart posted her grocery list as an illustration. It was so cute and it’s been forever since I’ve taken the time to draw so I thought I would take a shot at illustrating our weekend.
Our friends Jake and Erika spent all day Saturday with us helping us get ready for our Christmas party. We made all kinds of goodies together. At one point we tried drying chocolate dipped candy canes by hanging them on a clothes hanger. In theory it should’ve worked, but wasn’t so successful in reality. We always have a lot of fun (and laughs) with them.
The party was a success! All of our friends came over and we enjoyed each others company while sipping delicious hot chocolate, putting together a puzzle and playing games. And of couse everyone had a blast with the white elephant gift exchange. I don’t know how our friends come up with their gift ideas, but they are always great. I got a toy that launches little plastic babies, called a baby shooter. Now tell me that isn’t entertaining! After our gift exchange we all watched Elf (now a Christmas tradition).
Then to top it all off, Jake and Erika asked us both to be in their wedding! We are so SO excited and honored. I can already tell from what they have planned that this wedding is going to be amazing!

Christmas Time is Here
Jake and I are having our 2nd annual Christmas party this Saturday! We planed it all out, bought ingredients for all the goodies, and now just have to make them all. I’m looking forward to having a nice time with all of our friends before heading home for the holidays. It’s going to be so much fun. Now if only Will Arnett and Amy Poehler were coming. I’m pretty sure we could be pretty good friends. They’re the best as you can clearly tell from the picture. Maybe next year I’ll send them an invitation.
Christmas Cookies
I don’t bake cookies all that often, but when Christmas time rolls around it’s one of those things that Christmas just wouldn’t seem right without. Usually my family bakes the same cookies every year. I like it that way. I’m a stickler when it comes to tradition. We always bake my favorite thumbprint cookies, good ol’ chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies decorated with Christmas frosting and sprinkles, and then my dad’s favorite, buckeyes.
I’ve been eyeing a lot of beautiful cookies on Pinterest lately. Now of course none of these would replace our traditional cookies, but I don’t mind adding a few to the list. I mean who can resist those cute little snowmen?

Quill & Fox Design
I am currently loving Quill & Fox Design. I just recently discovered them and I can’t get enough. Their designs are so fun and cute. And the colors, oh the colors!
I’m especially loving their wedding suites. For a long time now I’ve been wanting to put together a wedding line for our shop. Maybe this is enough to finally inspire me to do it. On top of that, our good friends Jake and Erika just got engaged over Thanksgiving weekend and we couldn’t be more excited, happy, and trilled for them! Needless to say I have mushy gushy love on my mind.
Finders Keepers: Message-in-a-Cookie Cutters
Not too many things are better than a freshly baked Christmas cookie, but how much better would a cookie be if it had a personal message on it? Now that’s sweet! I’m thinking maybe some custom cookies for Santa are in order.
