Thanksgiving in Phoenix

Christmas is only a few days away and I haven’t even been able to share photos from Thanksgiving yet. Yikes! This year we headed down to Phoenix and met up with our family. We rented a house that had a beautiful pool and thankfully the weather was nice enough to pretty much spend the entire time outside.
Our niece and nephew pretty much lived in the pool the entire time. Only cookies and the occasional bathroom break could get these two water babies out of there.
I did manage to get Jocelyn out of the water long enough to help Papa and I make our traditional pumpkin pie. Ever since I can remember my dad and I make my Grandma’s pumpkin pie recipe for Thanksgiving. This year I thought it would be fun include Jocelyn. She’s quite the little baker. 
We thought for sure Pixel would love the water but it turns out he is pretty content staying dry and laying in the sun.
We did manage to lure him in with some treats. 
It was so great to see our family if only for a few days. I hope we can do it all again next year. What do you say family? 

Selfie Photo Session

When it comes time to get our Christmas card ready every year there is always the dilemma of should we hire a photographer or grab some friends to snap a few photos. This year we didn’t do either. Instead, one Sunday after church we headed over to the park, set up our camera and tripod, and snapped a few family photos. Ok it was a lot more than a few. It turns out it’s pretty tricky to get Pixel sitting and looking at the camera or at least in the general direction when there is no one behind the camera to get his attention. He was such a trooper though. These are our favorites from our little selfie session. Let’s be honest though, the last one is the best. I laugh every time I see it! All three of us weren’t ready for that one.

DIY Holiday Clay Letter Garland

Last year I made monogram clay ornaments and gift tags. They were so fun to make and the clay was so easy to work with that I wanted to do something else with it again this year. I decided on this holiday letter garland. 

You will need:

STEP 1: Cut out each of the letters.

STEP 2: Roll out the clay until it is about 1/2″ thick. Then place your paper letter on the clay and cut around the paper with the knife. Repeat with all the letters.

STEP 3: Next punch two holes on the top of each letter with the straw. Let dry on a flat surface overnight.
STEP 4: Once dry, string your letters on the ribbon. 
I hung our garland up using these hooks. Oh and don’t forget to turn on some Christmas music while you make this!

DIY Baby Infinity Scarf on The Proper Pinwheel

I woke up this morning and it was 37 degrees! That’s freezing for LA (and me). Today is going to be a socks and sweater kind of day for sure. I know to some of you that’s a heat wave, but I’m kind of a wimp when it comes to the cold.

Now that winter is here these baby infinity scarves would come in handy for the littles. Back in October I made a few of these to give to Dana at her baby shower. She loves wearing scarves so they were a perfect gift for her little girl.

I also made the one in the picture for Lexi from The Proper Pinwheel. She just had the cutest little girl a few weeks ago! Lexi posted my baby scarf DIY on her blog this morning; so head on over and check out the tutorial. These would make great gifts for Christmas and they can easily be adjusted to fit any sized kid or even big enough for you! I’m not going to lie, I did make an adult one too. They are so easy I couldn’t resist.

I thought it would be fun to make a few gift guides this year and share them with you. The first one is a gift guide for your BFF. The funny thing is my BFF and I decided not to buy each other gifts this year. We tend to buy each other things randomly throughout the year so we’re taking a little break and just planning on celebrating the holidays with a special get-together. But if I were to buy a gift for a BFF these are some of my favorites that I think most BFFs would love. I know I would.

Merry & Bright Free Holiday Printable

Here is a little something to deck your halls this holiday season. I couldn’t resist doing some holiday handletteing. We decorated our apartment last night and put this art print on our mantel.
