His & Hers: Shoes

Jamie Bartlett Blog Post Fashion, His and Hers 2091 Views

We both recently got a new pair of shoes; but after coming home from shopping I realized how similar they actually were. That got me thinking about all our shoes. We have a lot of similar pairs. We both have Pumas, TOMS, and Converse to name a few — and so this post was born.

Labor Day Weekend

Jamie Bartlett Blog Post Dogs, Holiday, Photography, Pixel, Weekend 1965 Views

Besides starting our new collaborative project over the weekend, we spent a good amount of time at the dog park snapping photos with our new camera. We had a few people ask us to do a review on our camera so we plan to do that soon once we have a little more time to play with it. So far the Canon 70D works like a gem but we’ll talk more on that later.

And remember that s’mores pie I mentioned last week? Well I made that and it did not disappoint. It was SO good!

These two had a long day. Isn’t that precious?

So Long Sweet Summer

S’mores Mug Cake | S’mores Pancakes | S’mores Pie

Nothing says summer better than a s’more. I love these things. I love sitting around a campfire with friends, I love the smell of smoke and I love trying to toast the mallow just right (in my case a nice golden brown and a tad burnt). So now that summer is coming to a close, even if the weather still says otherwise, I think a few s’mores this weekend would be the perfect way to wish summer a goodbye and welcome in Autumn. Don’t you?

You better believe I’m making that s’more pie this weekend!

Family Staycation

Jamie Bartlett Blog Post California, Disneyland, Photography, Vacation 1210 Views

Back in July some of my family came out to visit us. I completely forgot that I never posted any pictures of their stay. We always love when people come to California. It makes us take a break from our routine, get out and go places.
I realized when I started going through the pictures we took, most of them were of my niece. I guess when you have a niece this cute it’s hard to find anything else worth taking pictures of. So get ready for a whole bunch of cuteness.
We spent a long day at the beach, running in and out of the water, jumping over the waves and playing in the sand. I found out that everything is more exciting with a little kid around.
We took my niece to get her hair done in Sleeping Beauty’s castle. It was so sweet how they treated all the little girls. They made it really magical.
Jake and Jocelynn were buddies the entire time at the zoo. They found all the animals together.
And of course we had to go to In-N-Out while there were here.
Jocelyn and Pixel were two peas in a pod. They were so funny together. Pixel loved catching all the bubbles.
Our visits with family never seem to be long enough. We enjoyed every minute of it and can’t wait until we see them again at Thanksgiving.

Let Them Eat Cake

Jamie Bartlett Blog Post Art, Baking, painting, Party 1888 Views

You know Jordan Ferney from the blog Oh Happy Day? I got to meet her while I was at ALT in January. She was so sweet and just so happens to run one of the best party blogs; which makes this project so perfect! Jordan and her husband Paul, who is an amazing painter, collaborated on this project called Let Them Eat Cake. Jordan would bake all the cakes and make them look pretty, then Paul would paint each one. I love it when a husband and wife use their strengths to work together and do amazing things.
They did a ton more cakes than the ones I posted. You can check out all the other ones on Paul’s site. All the original paintings are sold but they now offer prints of the paintings.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Jamie Bartlett Blog Post LA, Los Angeles, summer, Weekend 1151 Views

Jake and I really aren’t that into sports. We don’t make our schedules around when the games are on and we don’t have a lot of team paraphernalia decorating our home. But we do like to occasionally watch a few games here and there and when we do we really enjoy it.

Over the weekend we caught a Dodger’s game with some of our friends. Jake and I suited up in our team caps (represent!) because it’s just a darn shame to go to a baseball game without a baseball hat. Then we dutifully got a dodger dog and a cold one to go with it. It’s the American thing to do.
I felt really weird taking a picture of the sign for the womens bathroom. But isn’t it strangely lovely?
I kept hope some guy would come around shouting “Peanuts, get your peanuts” but he never did. Just a water boy and and Ice cream man.

We sat in the blazing sun, cheered on our team, and sang Take Me Out to the Ball Game at the top of our lungs all alongside our friends. It was a good fun day.

We celebrated my birthday at the beginning of August. Once that has passed I don’t consider summer having much more to offer. At that point I’m ready to say goodbye until next year. Don’t get me wrong, I like summer! But I also like the changing of seasons.

Unfortunately August seems to be the hottest month around here. I guess it’s going to be a while before I can start pulling on cozy socks and sipping chai.

Outdoor Movie Night Printables for The Kitchn

Jamie Bartlett Blog Post, Printables Design, For the Taking, Party, Printable 2862 Views

It’s no surprise that people here in LA are serious about their movies/movie going experience. That’s why I was thrilled when The Kitchn came to me asking if I would design a few printables for an outdoor movie party they were planning for their gathering series. The stylist had a few colors in mind but basically let me do what I wanted. I designed popcorn labels that you can use to dress up plain brown paper lunch bags and also a menu sign you can set up and have all the goodies and snacks listed out for guests to choose from.

They did such a great job making the backyard comfortable and cozy. I’ve already decided that one of the first parties I’m going to throw when I get a house with a backyard will be one like this.
